Great Start – Horrible Finish
Pride and Glory was two-thirds of a masterpiece only to crash and burn so spectacularly I still can’t quite believe just how badly it self destructed, the CGI monster-clash in The Incredible Hulk turned that potential guilty pleasure into nothing more than another forgettable cinematic video game, EagleEye going from exciting, intense, intelligent Hitchcock-like thriller into an unintentionally hysterical SAL 9000 snooze-fest, the moving and emotional Henry Poole is Here not having faith in its own convictions to see itself through to the end, Transsiberianderailing in the climactic act after chugging suspenseful along for the majority of its running time, David Mamet’s Redbeltgoing down for the count during a silly ringside battle royale

Already Forgotten
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian seemed to have vanished from memory the moment I left the theater and try as I might I’m having trouble recollecting anything about it now, Twilight was a massive hit but the only thing I can recall about my experience watching it was the giddily hysterical reactions of the mostly under-16 audience, I loved The Spiderwick Chronicles back in February but now I’m scratching my head as to why and, finally, am I the only one who completely forgot the monumental mess which was Speed Racer actually came out in 2008?

Better than Their Rep
Leatherheadsmight have its problems but it was hardly a disaster, The Happening was silly and poorly cast but it still had more than its share of freakishly creepy scares, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was a wonderful thrill-ride whose only fault was to fall victim to unreachably sky-high audience expectations and City of Ember kept me thrillingly entertained start to finish reminding me of past favorite fantasies from childhood long since past.
Worse than Their Rep
The Incredible Hulk is no better than Hulk, it made less money and cost more to make yet it is considered a success – go figure, Milk and Slumdog Millionaire are very good (and very entertaining) movies but neither hardly breaks new ground or is anything close to a classic, I Served the King of England is unfocused and contradictory, Ping Pong Playa is corse and unfunny and My Brother is an Only Child got rave reviews from most critics even though absolutely nothing of emotional interest ever seems to occur.
