Hank Hill is an old fashioned,
hardworking, beer drinking man who is trying to live in a modern
Texas world. His wife is opinionated, his son is a
disappointment, his friends are losers, and his Father is
oppressive. But through it all, Hank keeps a level head, a
strong sense of morality, and by doing so keeps himself "King of
the Hill." Thanks to the
IMDB.
What do you get when you dump four Alamo-drinking rednecks in a
back alley for a second time around? King of the Hill
Season 2! That's what.
Hank, Bobby, Dale and even crazy old Cotton are back and better
than ever. Season 2 features 22 hilarious episodes that I truly
loved. From Cotton stealing a prosthetic leg from the Mexican
government, to Hank joining his arch nemeses, the Mega Lo Mart
under the supervision of Luanne's boyfriend Buckley. There's
even more in this season than in the first one; Mike Judge's,
dry but subtle humor shines, giving each and every episode it's
own unique tone and charm. We really start to see each and every
character evolve into what we see today.
King of the Hill is just one of those shows where it gets
funnier and funnier every time you watch it. When finding new
things you may have missed or just forgot about you realize how
funny this show really is. Let me leave it at this, if you're a
big fan of the show, then this DVD. is an absolute MUST!
The transfer in video quality is done pretty well. It's clear
and sharp, and that's all I'm, asking for. However, for this
particular show the presentation is a little shaky when you have
character movement combined with camera movement. Overall, I was
very satisfied with the result and really have no major
complaints.
The DVD comes with Dolby Digital Surround that sounds like a
humming bird.
King of the Hill Season 2 comes fully equipped with
character commentary on selected episodes. You also get some
197 deleted and extended scenes with alternate endings. Pretty
cool stuff.
If you're really into cartooning and animation there's an
evolution of an episode segment. You can watch selected
scenes in split-screen, showing the storyboards and then the
final product at once to give you more of its beginning and
finished feel. You pick what audio you want to hear with it,
whether it be just the voices or the score. There are also
several music videos to go along with it. Not a big thing
but it's okay.
Now here's something new. For Season 2 the writers and creators
wanted to try something new by having director intro's at
the beginning of each episode. They never aired, obviously, but
they are interesting to watch, yet some are just dumb.
Other extras include The Boy Ain't Right book excerpts,
which are very entertaining to watch. Last but certainly not
least is a tutorial called The Arlen School of Drawing. I
don't want to spoil it, but take a look at it and you wont
regret it.
In conclusion, King of the Hill
is full of laughs and extras that can be enjoyed for a very long
time. If you're interested in behind the scenes, deleted and
alternate extras or just watching the show, this DVD is going to
fit very snug into your collection. I may be a little one-sided,
being such a big fan of the show and all, but there's something
in here for everybody. On more of a personal note, I watch this
season all the time. When I come home I put it in the DVD
player. When I'm getting ready for bed it's on. I'll even be
sleeping and you better believe it's on. I just hope you can all
enjoy this as much as I do.
