Picture
this in your mind: Five beautiful girls, a bar, music, etc. Now
picture the five girls in tight clothes and dancing like strip
club dancers. Did you get the picture? If so, would you get a
movie that's called Coyote Ugly?
Graced with a velvet voice 21 years old Violet Sandford (Piper
Perabo) heads to New York to pursue her dream of becoming a
songwriter only to find her aspirations sidelined by the
accolades and notoriety she receives at her "day" job
as a barmaid at Coyote Ugly.
A new nightclub with a twist, Coyote Ugly is the hottest
spot in town, featuring a team of sexy, enterprising young
women. Lil (Maria Bello) is the savvy and tough proprietor with
an autocratic reign over her girls, including the
ever-flirtatious Cammie (Izabella Miko), headstrong and
antagonistic Rachel (Bridget Moynahan) and top tip earner Zoe (Tyra
Banks). The "Coyotes," as they are affectionately
called, tantalize customers and the media alike with their
outrageous antics, making Coyote Ugly the watering hole for guys
on the prowl.
Coyote Ugly suffers from the main thing a movie needs,
which is a plot. The plot was so stupid and lame that you wonder
why it was made. The main story is about Violet's dreams of
making it big in the big apple, which was done some many times
before.
The only thing that keeps this film watchable are the women. The
five beautiful women, especially Tyra Banks. I love her and the
only reason I wanted to see this movie is because of her. And
guess what? She wasn't in it too long, which even made me
dislike the film more.
Don't get me wrong, I like looking at beautiful women like the
next guys. But have a plot in the film and if you're going to
make a film like this at least make it an R-rated movie so there
will be a little nudity. The scariest part of the film is when
John Goodman does a strip tease act on top of the bar.
I give this film 3 stars. The only reason why is because of the
women, especially Tyra. The film should've actually gotten 1 ½
stars, but I'll be nice and give it 3 (I must be drunk).
Overall, if you have to see this film ask yourself why.
