Frequency
examines the often-asked question, "What if you could
change the past?" Do they answer it? Not totally logically
but they present it in a movie that is simply fantastic.
The
first thing you need to do is go with the fantasy. Don’t
bother buying your ticket if you are concerned with finding
holes in the script. We know that you can’t change the past
without holes popping up in a story. Frequency does the
best job I have ever seen while tugging at my heart all through
the movie.
Because
of freak son-spots and a ham radio connection the son speaks to
his father, who died thirty years earlier. Can we change the
past? Star Trek fans know that Kirk was told not to change a
thing. Changing the past, of course, changes the present in ways
we can’t imagine. Saving one life leads to the death of
another.
However,
the father and son spend this moving movie fixing mistakes. I
won’t tell you about the plot because there is no need to know
and I don’t want to ruin it at all. However we go back and
forth over a period of thirty years and it worked. I only wished
it could be true. You will love this movie because you want to
love this movie.
As
a lover of time travel stories I found the storyline in this
science fiction/fantasy fit perfectly for me. But I believe in
parallel universes. I was
mesmerized all through this thriller. While I guessed at
possible endings, it really did not matter. The ending took on a
life of its own. Everyone in the theater was crying, cheering
and loving it.
I
give this movie a 10, I never looked at my watch and I would pay
full price to see it again.
