One of the biggest daily entertainments for women during the day M-F is Soap Opera’s. A lot of women go crazy over them. I know my mother does. She screams at the TV like it’s really happening.
Nurse Betty is a comic story about a waitress Betty Sizemore (Renee Zellweger) dreams of staring next to her biggest soap opera star George McCord (Greg Kinnear) but before she could think about her dreams. Her no good husband Del (Aaron Eckhart) get involve in a shady deal a couple of hit man Wesley (Chris Rock) and Charlie (Morgan Freeman). Who kills him and is witness by Betty so she has to run. But what she doesn’t know that she takes a car with some thing in the trunk that the hit men want. So the chase is on.
There comes a time when a film that has not been advertised a lot and not too many people know about a film. And the film is good, as is is the case with Nurse Betty. This was a very good movie and it totally took me by surprise. The director Neil LaBute (In the Company of Men, Your Friends & Neighbors) has scored a victory with this film and did a great job.
The screenwriters John C. Richards & James Flamberg did a great job on the script and made Nurse Betty a clever and original, which movies lack nowadays. Nurse Betty is a film that has style and grace like The Sixth Sense.
Also for a great movie to succeed you need good actors and actresses. Well, Nurse Betty has them and they were all perfect on screen. Morgan Freeman was good as the hit man, Chris Rock was good as the hit man who don’t take crap from anyone and like soap opera.
There is also Renee Zellweger who was very good as playing the housewife who loves her soap opera a little too much. Greg Kinnear was very funny as the main soap opera star. Aaron Eckhart was very good as the no good husband, way different from his last role in Erin Brockovich.
Overall, Nurse Betty was a great surprise comedy that was very good. It will make you laugh. For all you soap opera fans out there, you all will like the title of the soap opera in Nurse Betty. It's a funny one. Everyone go see this film now. Don’t miss it.
