Most of us had dreams when we were little. Some of us wanted to be doctors or a movie star. Some wanted to be an astronaut and fly to the moon. Imagine if you had your chance and someone else running it for you as in this case. The film is called Space Cowboys.

In 1958, the members of Team Daedalus, a cocky unit of top Air Force test pilots, were ready to serve their country as the first Americans in space. When NASA replaced the Air Force for outer atmospheric testing, Team Daedalus was pushed aside and a chimpanzee named Sam got the honor. The team retired, but the dream of going into space never died.

Now, 42 years later, Frank Corvin ( Eastwood), Hawk Hawkins ( Jones), Jerry O'Neil ( Sutherland) and Tank Sullivan ( Garner) have been reunited. A satellite Frank designed, code-named Ikon, has suffered a systems failure and, if not repaired, will slam into the earth at more than 300 miles per hour. Ikon is a Russian relay station. It doesn't respond to Mission Control and blowing it up would cause a massive communications blackout throughout the Soviet Union. Scrambling for a solution, NASA resolves to mount a special mission to make the repairs in space.

This year we've seen a lot of space movies. Most notably Supernova, Mission To Mars, and Battlefield Earth, which you all k now were the worst films of the year so far. So we need a new space movie to can make up for all the bad ones. Well, Space Cowboys is it.

Space Cowboys had its good elements. The cast worked great together. They all had their different style of acting which made them very funny and good. The story was great and believable, meaning the plot wasn’t too far- fetched like some films tend to be. The special effects were not too bad. Nothing new, but watch able.

Space Cowboys did have some scenes I did not like. The beginning was so fake you could tell they dubbed the voice over the young cast. The ending was a little lame but it did not destroy the film. The director of the film was Clint Eastwood and he showed us why he is a legend in his own right. The only thing bad about him is that the younger kids do not know too much of him. It’s the older generations who are familiar with his work. This may hurt the film a little, but overall Clint did an outstanding job on Space Cowboys.

Overall, Space Cowboys was a very entertaining film. It was very funny, had a great cast, and it's what we needed so we could forget about the other bad Sci-Fi movies of this year.
