Action.
Fun. Smart. Clever. Entertaining. Fast. Romantic. Sexy. This is
what The Thomas Crown Affair is all about. I found myself
reading the paper and spotting an ad about a sneak preview of
this movie. Let me tell you what happened. Inside the theater,
it was the smallest one, and it was packed. There were mostly
older people like in the range of 30's to 60's. Looks like this
movie is made for mostly adults. But I don't care. It don't
matter to me. I can still watch it because I had a ticket.
Okay,
cutting to the chase, this movie was all that what I expected.
The audience seemed to like it very much. There were laughs and
at the end everyone applauded. It looks like this remake is
going to make big bucks. A slightly recent remake like Psycho
did poorly as hell. This, however, will not do poorly because
this movie is wonderfully shot, acted, directed and written. A
variation of good music adds to it.
The
story is known to everyone though I think this one may be a
little bit different. I can't tell accurately since I only saw
half of the original. But I say this one is better. For the
people who don't know what it's about, I can give a short
description. Katherine Banning is an insurance investigator.
Thomas Crown is a wealthy man with a hobby for art. In the
opening we see him stealing a painting. Banning investigates on
Crown and soon finds herself falling in love with him. Denis
Leary is the NYPD detective. There are some small subplots that
make this movie a lot more interesting.
For
the people who don't want to know what happens next, just skip
this and go to the next paragraph. In the middle, there is a hot
and steamy sex scene. The camera moves just right to let us see
a lot of the action. Shots of both of them naked. The best part
is when we see Rene Russo's breasts. But to some people this
might not be as interesting as it was to me. The nudity in this
movie was required, no arguments there, but that's just because I'm a
sexist bastard (jk).
This
pretty much wraps it up. The 110 minutes of running time went by
fast. No dragging spots or boring scenes. All good stuff.
